Scoundrel Series

Monotypes

(Only one individual print

exists, not repeatable as the

plate is wiped during the

print process)

The Scoundrel series is ongoing. They emerged from  the habit of trying to guess peoples conversations from the other side of a coffee shop or meeting room. They grew into a response to Honoré Daumier's  satirical etchings depicting public figures in a witty/grotesque manner.

My Scoundrels are unusually placed  in a landscape format. Sometimes the characters look at each other, sometimes out of the frame, sometimes at the viewer. The format gives me three elements to play with, two faces and the all important space between.

This series was exhibited in 2012 at the Faulkner Gallery, Santa Barbara, California.  Seventeen pieces were exhibited as a body of work named  'Crowd of Scoundrels.'
